The Ensign Peak Foundation, a non-profi t organization, commissioned MGB+A to master plan and develop construction drawings for this nature park. Working in conjunction with the community and Salt Lake City, the park was designed to promote the history and infl uence Ensign Park portrayed in the City’s development. Salt Lake City was laid out by Brigham Young in 1847 from the top of Ensign Peak at the arrival of the Pioneers. Adjacent trail systems were integrated into the design making the park a trail head for Shoreline trail. The new park provides the visitor an opportunity to learn of Ensign Peak’s history and enjoy the indigenous plant material while taking an invigorating hike to the summit of the peak. A small amphitheater and rest areas along the trail are available to park users.
