Ogden Weber ATC Harrisville Canal

MGB+A’s recent addition to the Ogden Weber Applied Technology Center is a renovated irrigation canal. The canal, a badly deteriorating concrete culvert bisecting the western edge of the campus, created an unsightly and unsafe obstacle and needed to be replaced.
As an alternative to reconstructing the culvert, or burying the canal in pipe, MGB+A propsed opening the channel and converting it into a water feature. Exposed aggregate walls were designed to form irregular edges that allow for a variety of seating areas, gathering places, and safe access to the water. Decorative paving and water related plants compliment the overall uniqueness of this sculptured waterway.
