The Harrisville Canal was a badly deteriorating concrete culvert bisecting the western edge of the Ogden Weber Applied Technology Center campus. It created an unsightly and unsafe obstacle and needed to be replaced. As an alternative to reconstructing the culvert, or burying the canal in pipe, MGB+A proposed opening the channel and converting it into a water feature. Exposed aggregate walls were designed to form irregular edges that allow for a variety of seating areas, gathering places, and safe access to the water.
